Melbourne's Houlette mix folk and early French-pop influences on their brand new debut full length which features rich female vocals over minimalist modern-pop arrangements, punctuated with the odd darker interlude. This cross-breeding of styles and sounds, filtered through genres both old and new brings about a sense of nostalgia while maintaining a sonic freshness. Another winner courtesy of those very productive folks at Exo Records, up to their usual high standards and packaged in a beautiful digipak too.

Yep, as we mentioned on Friday we have our first release out and about on new Missing Link reissue label Junkyard Records. It's a 22-track compile of Sydney's surfed-up skated-out rock'n'roll dynamos the Hellmenn entitled Thermo Nuclear Sonic Burnout and blasts forth with their killer debut 12" Herbal Lunacy with cuts such as "So Bad", their skate gem "Out Of Control", and more, plus you get rare comp cuts and selections from their catalogue from 1987 - 1993. All wrapped up in a digipak with totally mad artwork by singer Ben Brown we reckon this is a corker & offers up their songs once again to those who have missed a solid comp being available. Playing next week at a one-off show for MS as part of the Monster Session series...This Saturday March 13th at Sydney Uni's Manning Bar with a killer line-up feat: Celibate Rifles, Depression, Lime Spiders, The Meanies, Nunbait, Hard Ons & more, so if you're in the area get down and rewind on a bunch of your ol' Aussie faves!

Alright, it's a big Friday at the Link!
First, most obviously, Mr. Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr / Sebadoh / DEEP WOUND!) is playing an acoustic instore later on. Come down around 5pm! It should be awesome.
Second, and very exciting for us, the first release on our new reissue label JUNKYARD RECORDS has hit the shelves! Sydney's HELLMENN have a legendary reputation for their high volume, high energy, ear bleeder live shows and vinyl platters, and this Thermo Nuclear Sonic Burn Out CD compiles tracks from 87-93, including their first 2 EPs and various rare and unreleased tunes. This is very exciting for us, especially considering we just put the GOD CD on the shelf last week! Great to see Australian r'n'r from that period getting it's due!
JUNKYARD is a reissue label we run out of the store now that is primarily focused on digging through the refuse of Australia's vinyl past and making certain forgotten and neglected moments in our rich history get bl'asted again!
Third, as you can see by the pic, the new Marching Orders LP Days Gone By has finally reached our counter! What a great looking cover image! This LP is a gatefold and comes with a CD of the album, a lyric sheet with a brief history on the SKINS and SHARPS subcultures of the Melbourne 70's and on limited colour vinyl. Great to see this local streetpunk band continue on their run of vinyl releases on SF's Longshot label.

Once a solo vehicle for the work of songwriter Andrew Read, Our Anatomy is a fully formed indie rock unit from Melbourne with some incendiary music under its belt already...combining accomplished playing, sonic atmospheres and tales that pack a punch to the heart. After a couple of DIY cd-r releases and numerous shows this is their debut EP, Denouement.
