The Casualties

The Casualties revive the gutter aspects of early-80s British punk. Sporting mohawks, spikes and leathers, the band is something of a novelty among all the pop-punk pap today, both in look and sound. This means they share with Rancid the problem of, in the context of, say, the Warped tour, looking like they've gone down to the local costume shop and hired punk costumes for the day. But that stereotype problem aside (and with my claws retracted), the Casualties build on a part of the punk tradition that risks being more known for having its image on London postcards than its music; the Casualties redress this balance.
